I don't know if anyone can help me on this or not without me giving any useful details! But here goes:
I have a '96 Cinquecento Sporting 1.1 and I'm thinking of driving up to Manchester from Devon tomorrow as opposed to getting the train, which is roughly 250 miles. Would anyone possibly give me a rough estimate on how much that would cost in petrol, or how many tanks it would take up, probably not much use without me knowing my personal MPG but I thought just in case anyway has travelled around that many miles with these petrol prices, any indication would be cool.

i did a 220 mile trip in my cinq a couple of weeks ago and used exactly 5 gallons worked out at 44mpg so if u allow £40 for fuel you will have plenty in reserve just fill it up should get u there and back

Thanks, that's a GREAT help! The train for both of us would be £140 so I think it'd be worth it driving then

and on top of that u have taxi fares at each end to reach ur destination,driving makes alot more sense and its door 2 door

Just fill up before you leave and again before you come back.

Not saying it will use all of two tank fulls, but it avoids unwanted stops on-route.

from my house to my mums is 246 miles exactly.. Been a while since i drove a standard sporting but when i did it would do the trip and have about 1/4 tank left. Back then you could fill up a cinq for £35, bet it costs more than that now though

I did a sea side run the other night 100 miles each way over welsh country roads.
I used just less than half a tank.

For your trip I'd expect change out of a tank of fuel easy! Just please check your oil and Coolent levels before you go

and tyre pressures, and top up washer fluid bottle

and hope your tank doesnt leak after putting more than 20 quid worth of fuel in lol

Hi everyone, thanks for all your help and advice, sorry took so long to get back on here! In the end it came to about £80 but that was two tank worths (at £40 for a full tank) but it didn't use up the whole second tank, got about just over a quarter left by the time I got home. So thanks again for the posts and hopefully this will help sometime in the future
