hello my 99T plate sei sporting keeps cuting out on me when warm, it only does it when warm ive changed the plugs and leads to no avail, it does it when im coming to a stop at low revs it judders and drops the revs and cuts out it also brings the injector light on, then it struggles to start again,

can anyone help please its driving me mad

I've got a '98 Sei Sporting and had a similar problem about a month ago. I changed the crank sensor and that solved it.

Likely to be the engine temperatue sensor -- blue sensor on inlet manifold. Engine is running (or trying to run) on full cold starting enrichment when hot.

If it's been doing that for a while, an oil and filter change would be a good idea as the oil will have been diluted with petrol.

BUT, TDC sensors sometimes break down under temperature stresses -- next time it conks out check for fuel past the injector (peer down the TB, you should see it dribbling against the butterfly when engine is cranked) and spark. If neither, it has to be the TDC sensor.

just managed to have a look and its looking likely to be that, car run to temp injector light comes on and the car dies, so i started it up unplugged it and it ran fine plugged it back in and it died more or less staright away with the injector light on, so i think i will have to source one of these now,

does anybody have any recomendations on where to get one cheap and fast please?

many thanks

managed to get one yesterday fitted this morning but unfortunatly it hasnt worked so am back to square 1, the injector light stays out now when it does cut out.

any more sugestions please?

fingers i had a look down the tb when it cut out for a dribble of fuel and it seems fine it starts back up after it cuts out sometimes takes a few times but will fire up

Sounds like classic crank sensor to me.

I'm amazed people are advising you to change the CTS, this has no effect on starting - if the sensor fails the ECU recovery function just uses pre programmed values based on the air temperature reading.

Get a new crank sensor, fit and report back.
