Im not sure if anyone has ever thought about this but im wondering if it would be possible (with some mods) to put an automatic in a cinq?

I was thinking the 1242 will the auto box?

I doubt ill ever do this but thought it would be interesting! Im not bothered about power differences from a manual, would be better still than a 899 though!

Dunno ho the box works on those -- the Cinq and Sei autos were actually an autoclutch. Someone on the Punto side should know.

Surely the mounts are in the same place? Iv heard bad things about the autoclutch! I think if i can make it fit okay, then theres no reason it wont work?

id couldnt see why not the box will be alot bigger though wouldnt it?

i could imagin the shafts would need shortening and lengthening accordingly

dont fit one from a mk1 punto, they are crap

Does anyone know if all the punto autos are cvt, mk1 and 2? Not to fond of them to be honest!

mk1 are cvt powder clutch. mk2 are ecvt torque converter

So, Mk2 should fit (with Cento Sporting driveshafts, maybe cups) but I think Mk2 is canbus, so there may be ECU issues if there's any kind of interface between ECU and gearbox.

the auto boxes on both have female cups

why do you want to go from a manual to an automatic out of interest?

a CVT transmission would be awesome on a cento.

but only if you could design and build your own controller.

think about it... 7speed semi auto cinq with ANY gear ratios you want.

Mainly because im to lazy to change gears myself

I do a lot of long distance driving so it would be more comfortable, although my 899 copes quite well! also would make quite a unique cinq as i dont think anyone has done anything like it before!

So a CVT would be better then? I just dont like the way they work, compared to a torque convertor set up with conventional gear changes!

ecvt be better dont touch a mk1 punto box they will all be buggered

What differs with ecvt? guessing the e is electronic? So ill be looking at a mk2 punto autobox, will these fit on the mk1 engine so extensive rewiring and new ecu's wont be needed?

main thing is you dont have that crappy powder clutch, easiest way would be to get a donor mk2 speedgear and transfer everything, engine, box, ecu, gearbox ecu,body computer, loom and dash clocks
