Mystery battery problem

Hi all

Yesterday I changed the fan motor for the interior blower/heater. To gain access I removed the battery etc... after finishing changing the blower motor I put everything back correctly including the battery, but now the car barely cranks over. The battery is properly connected and I stuck it on the trickle charger for 24 hours just in case I had left the interior light on or something equally as daft on whilst I was working on it, but it made no difference and it still struggles to turn over.

What would have caused the battery to have died like this ? I didn't short it or do anything daft .

Cheers
Kev.

Re: Mystery battery problem

The only cables I disturbed were the battery terminal connectors, and the two plugs on the blower fan motor. The battery terminals are on properly and the lights etc come on fine and not overly dim, it's just not cranking properly. Is there a separate lead which could have not made it back on the battery terminal ? I didn't notice any.

Re: Mystery battery problem

Just checked and everything appears well and correct. Maybe when I removed the battery I unsettled some thing in it as I could hear a lot of sloshing of liquid which I have never noticed before, perhaps a dead cell. will pick up a new battery tomorrow and try again

Re: Mystery battery problem

Yes the battery was completly removed from the car , as access to the blower/heater unit is restricted.

Re: Mystery battery problem

New battery fitted and car started first time, I guess removing the battery must have disturbed something internally causing it to die.
