Hi,

I own a 1999 899cc seicento, it currently has like a box filter (not sure what the correct name is) and I was wondering whether or not you can replace it with a cone style air filter? As you can probably tell I'm pretty new to this.
Thanks for your time!

Yup, dead easy.

Remove the filter box and the piping leading up to the plastic cowl on top of the throttle body.

We call this cowl 'Bob'

Buy appropriate lengths of silicone hose to attach between 'Bob' and your chosen filter.

BUT

Do check that your underwriters are happy with this type of modification, BEFORE spending any money.

Cheers

D

Ah okay thanks a lot! I'll have a go at it hopefully there will be no problems.

Cheers,

Alex

I'm looking to do the same (to put on a conical air filter). I have a 899cc Seicento SX. But I was wondering if I removed the air box and the breather pipe that is attached to it, what about the pipe that goes to the rocker cover?

I would,nt bother.

i,ve just binned a K&N filter on my Shumacher edition and I blame it (partially, possibly) for a flat spot in the accelaration.

Now I,ve bought a S/H genuine item,it is quieter and "seems" a lot better but I,m not taxing it until next Monday so a full roadtest will establish.

I,d stick with the one you have and replace the element every 6 months.

RALPH.

:yeahthat:

On mine I've just removed a K&N that was sat on top of the TB. Makes it sound loud, which I suppose psychologically makes it seem quicker.

I've now refitted the original airbox, but significantly enlarged the inlet hole, with a large cold air feed to the bumper. It's a lot quieter, but there is a very noticeable gain in performance.

Now for a replacement filter......:yum:

my point was really so many people have something like a GSR or Focus induction kit on there cento's with a cheapy universal filter on the end that cost them next to nothing.. You could use the K&N on the end of one of them to great effect. Although if i had a non-turbo cento i would be scouring the earth for a novitec carbon airbox mated with performance panel filter, don't see them for sale often.

not that i know of, the 8v one is just the front half of the airbox, not been in production for years though.
