Hi
I have a 1996 Cinq Sport & have found a Bravo 1400 engine (12V) quite cheaply . Will this fit into my Cinq & if so should I use my Cinq gearbox or the Bravo box ? (I can get the wiring loom & ECU from the Bravo)
Any advice thankfully received
John

It's cheap for a reason. This is the worst engine Fiat have made in a long long time. It's uneconomical and unreliable. Unless you fancy changing camshafts and followers every few miles I'd forget about it. A few here have done engine swaps in Cinqs, so see what they advise.

As well as that, the perfomance difference between Fiats 1.4 12v and 1.2 16v is minimal and the 1.2 16v is a better unit.

Hi Steve
Thanks - that's useful .
Just out of curiosity though , is this basically the same engine as the 1242 but with a different head ? i.e. would it mate to my gearbox/engine mounts etc ?
Would it be worth fitting the engine with my existing 1108 head ??

No, it is from bigger Fiat engine family (from 1.4 12v to 2.4 20v). The block is more or less the same as in AR 1.4/1.6/1.8/2.0 16v and Fiat 1.8 16v.

No, the type of g'box is the same (but with different ratios) but bellhousing is different.

As I wrote it is impossible - different engine type.
BTW: In Poland one bloke fited this engine to CC but results wasn't interesting. It was slower than most modified 1.2 conversions.

Minislapper - small world eh . I'm getting bored with Minis - been there done that , so I'm having fun with my Cinq at the moment .Still selling Mini parts on ebay though .
Latest plan is to get a Punto 75 engine & fit my Cinq head with the 75 cam .
Bushboy - that's no problem , i'll just cut & extend the existing pipe.
For all you Cinq fans , here's some of the Minis I've built
