Been a while, but..

I've finally found the time to begin work on my Seicento Schumacher..

I intend to sort out the mechanical and cosmetic issues and hopefully get the car back to standard/factory condition..

Jobs include: Paintwork on driver's door, roof, front bumper, offside rear wheel arch, around driver's side wiper motor spindle, both front wings faded/poor match..

..in fact, possible respray..

..new tailgate badges (faded), new front fog lamps, wheels to be refurbed, new front screen (scratched), new/replacement gearstick as car has after market gear knob fitted(!)..

..cylinder head gasket (slight 'miss' in the morning and slight coolant loss), new sump, new rear drums and shoes, new front and rear shocks and springs, suspension bushes, new clutch, general service..

Was planning on doing all (or most) of the above when I first bought the car nearly two years ago, but ended up using it as a daily so never got around to it!

The car isn't a dog, it actually looks okay but I want it looking perfect or as close as possible...

So that lot should keep me going for a while....:)

Will get some pictures generated as I go..

A few pictures to start with:

Side view and you can see the difference between wing, door and rear quarter panel. Poor light, but you get the general idea.

Will add more pictures as I go.

Ideally, I want to strip the car down to the last bolt and rebuild to concours spec'..

We'll see :)

Spent Friday changing the head gasket after the slight misfire in the morning began to last for several minutes.

It was beginning to run quite hot too and on closer inspection I found the 30A bladefuse for the radiator fan to be blown.

A quick check of the fan motor and it's almost siezed!

So the head gasket had to be done.

Changed all the gaskets, seals and bolts in the head gasket kit (apart from the valve stem oil seals), oil & filter, plugs, and of course new antifreeze.

The timing belt and water pump are quite recent, so they were not replaced either, but, plan is to remove and completely rebuild the engine anyway in the near future so will tackle those then..

Changed the 30A fuse and I'm now looking for a fan motor..

Only a couple of 'moments' doing the head gasket and they were the two bottom bolts holding the exhaust manifold heat shield in place, snapping.

And that was this weekend.

Hoping this rain stops soon so I can get started on the cosmetic stuff!:)

Been messing about tidying the Seicento up, here and there..

Nothing major though as work keeps interfering!!

However, recently I'm experiencing a hesitation/flat spot at 3000rpm.

I can't 'drive through it', but have to back off and build the speed up gradually..

Have checked valve timing and potential air leaks, etc..

New plugs, air filter..

Not losing water or oil..

The car feels not 100% however it idles fine..

Any thoughts??:)

Cheers

K
