I've been out this morning and measured my valve clearances, in the hope that I can finally fix the awful tappety noise.
First things first, have I measured them properly? In the haynes manual it says to measure with point of the cam pointing upwards. Is that 180 degrees from the shim, or the ground? I measured them from the shim.
Providing I haven't bodged up the measuring, here are the results:
1 - 0.5mm
2 - 0.41mm
3 - 0.57mm
4 - 0.43mm
5 - 0.39mm
6 - 0.53mm
7 - 0.41mm
8 - 0.53mm
Inlet: 2 4 5 7 are supposed to be 0.4mm +/-0.05mm
Exhaust: 1 3 6 8 are supposed to be 0.5mm +/-0.05mm
So is it just 3 thats out enough to need sorting, or could a couple of others do with it aswell?
I was expecting them to be out by alot more judging by the noise it's been making.
