General Front Shock Absorbers on Sei sport.

I have a V reg (2000) Sei sport and it recently failed it's MOT. I'm not the most experienced in cars and repairs but am going to undertake chainging the front disks and pads, and the shoes. I have been told that the front shock is leaking fluid and needs replacing. Are the shock absorbers and springs in one unit that can be replaced? I don't really want to mess around with spring clamps however and if it will be too much of a task I'll ask kwik fit to do it lol! Any feedback would be great!

There is a guide for the front disks and pads but not sure for rear shoes?
(can be found in your sig or top of cento section)

The rear shoes are a PITA tbh but that's just the springs.

you could go down to a breakers yard and take a whole strut off and replace it if you havent got a spring compressor

I was looking to buy new so I know the pads an shocks are even.
Do you know anywhere i can find a good online guide? I have a Haynes manual for a cinq on order and have my fingers crossed it will arrive for saturday!

i recently done my front springs on my cinq, what a ball ache. the spring need to be compressed quite a bit so i'd recommend taking the legs of and take em to a garage with the proper equipment and ask them to change them.

The guide is very good (better than the Haynes). You can buy a decent set of compressors for less than 20 quid (or maybe hire them). Always replace dampers/springs as an axle pair.

In any event, I'd not go to quick fit: they'll overcharge you.
