Re: Dodgy fuel gauge.

Hi- my sei sporting99 seems to have a bit of a dodgy fuel gauge, after the fuel goe below a certain level, it fluctuates quite badly, this usually happens when cornering or accelerating briskly, i have heard that all seicentos do it, is this true?

Re: Dodgy fuel gauge.

Its very annoying, but its perfectly normal. It's a fiat design thing, the sensor doesn't take into account turns! lol. if you take a corner very quick, half a tank can look like empty. You'll learn with experience when its genuinely nearly out of fuel.

Re: Dodgy fuel gauge.

Yes mine does it. The posistioning of the tank does not help matters but it is nothing to be concerned about.

Re: Dodgy fuel gauge.

Mine does it as well - thanks guys - thought I had a serious case of 'lead foot'.

I can put £10 of juice in and the fuel light will kick in around 60 miles or 1/4 tank. I pushed it last time it did it thinking 'no way is it empty' and finally filled it back up at 116 miles. I used to have a 1.4i corsa that would do 100m/£10 juice, so based my fill-up on this.

Still think I should be getting more from £10 though.

I've read that it should do around 40-44mpg but at current prices and based on mine be mostly town driving I aint too sure.

Any ideas what it should do?

(y) im gettin 50 mile outta tenner but that with me home made induction kit lol

Holy Cack! Don't think I'll bother putting one on mine - I only bought this car as a second run-about coz they're cheaper than my 2.0i Accord - That does more than 50 mile to a tenner and it's an auto with climate control and Air Con, weighs considerably less and goes like stink. It sounds to me like you either screw the arse of your Cinq or there is a serious fueling problem there bud - if not and induction kits really come at that price, I aint subscribng to one.

Good luck mate!

My 1242 does around 100-120 miles / £10 @79.9p?l if driven conservatively...
My 899cc with induction system and exhaust did around the same...Id be worried getting 50miles per £10...
