Hi all, i been researching cinq turbos for when i want more power, im also think of an engine change but just weighing up the pros and cons.. I undesstand pretty much every thingto do with the turbo except how to sort out the fuelling on boost? Can someone help me with that? i have heard of aftermarket ecu's (i guess thats alot of work) If anyone else wants to bring something up on the subject of turbos or engine changes or costs please feel free to do so :)

definatly aftermarket ECU. e.g megasquirt. on SPI youll be running an extra injector on the TB. or you can go MPI which is slightly easier but involves a bit of wiring. if your gonna do a turbo conversion expect to spend the money like no tomorrow.maybe 1k+ to do everything inc. suspension and brakes.. also insurance will take you up the rear with no lube

I was thinking of a 1.4 conversion, but the wiring on that is mental from what i've seen :(
And mega squirt looks to be extremely complicated, i dont understand it at all.

im sorry to say but if you dont understand the megasquirt dont kid yourself. put the turbo on the back burner and do something else. a simple punto 60 engine conversion will be much easier

its all plug and play for the p60. dont even need to wire sensors. just plug em in. original ECU will run it as well. then after that there's all sorts of tasty bits to think of.. actually come to think of it you will need a spacer for the manifold to downpipe bit. 10mm iirc cus the p60 engine is 10mm taller

??? i thought you were on about the p60 engine. straight in as an engine swap. the megasuirt first needs to be built. and then you need to wire all the inputs from sensors into it. then you need to load a Map into it. all well beyond me though. i honestly get lost by all the megasquirt talk. theres a megasquirt thread about 3 threads down though thatll show you the details of tuning it

I do try search but it doesnt find anything for me :/ not my greatest of friends. Sounds like an engine swap would be the better option for me, then consider a turbo after that.

just so you know, ive just converted my sei to 1.2 16v (punto 85) and its cost me just short of £400 so far (incuding engine, new clutch, all new fluids, filters and transportation of the engine). Just need to de-code ecu and its done :D fairly cheap i must say :)
