my cinqs developed a flat spot throughout most of the rev range under 3000 rpm when it warms up. it was very sight the other day but i replaced the rocker gasket (needed doing anyway) abd it sorted the problem untill today, ad its returned.

the car is also idling oddly and quite slowly sometimes.

the idliling is odd at any temp but the flat spot is worst when the cars warmed up.

anyone any ideas?

cheers.

Air Filter? I mean i Kno bugger all about Cinques and cars in general.. i gather u kno quite a bit.. jus thought i'd mention it as my old skool standard airfilter i imagen held back a bitch.. - Feeding Wrank Exhaust fumes through it for coldstarts..

success!... well nearly!

the prob is alot better now, almost completly gone.

the culprit?

The mckrich chip!

took it out and swapped back for the standard chip. turned the cinq on. idled normal. reved it a bit.. didnt have the cold start flat spot anymore. took it for a drive... fooking hell! its one speedie cinq! alot faster than it ever was running the mckrich chip. took it for a long drive down the motorway and the flat spot only appeared once when doing aorund 80mph... tried to accelerate and the car held back for a bit but it went after about 20 seconds and drove normaly the rest of the way.

so it seems that the mckrich doesnt seem to like my car.. atall!

so thats not going back in anyway. ut the flat spot was still there momentarily but i dont know if this was just a little thing cause by something else. ill see what its like on the way to and from work tomorrow.

:D love my cinq again.

i am getting odd idle on mine, there is a small split at one end of the map sensor hose. Could this be a cause? Cost much to replace? Can i tape it up for now? :D

joe, if there is a split in the hose then thats probably the problem. i had a split in mine and the car was horrible to drive...try selotaping it... doing that managed to get me home from wales!...

but any thin tubing will do the job.. try halfrauds.

i used windscreen washer tubing from a spare bonnet :)

Hi,
If it holds back when you press the throttle its a vac advance problem, means either the hose to the map sensor is blocked or leaking or your map sensor is on the way out......

Thanks

I'd say your Lambda sensor is about to die.
yep it happened to mine, no warning from the lovery lamp on the dash either

easy to do just get a new one and a big spanner.

Unless its my car which has had its downpipe botched together and the lambda welded in. Kinda means when it fails i gotta get a new downpipe too.
