Hi,just bought a sporting and it has been running very cool,it only gets to 90 when stationary and then the fan cuts in and all is well but as soon as im on the move it coold down again, I fitted a new thermostat today and its just the same, even though its cool the heater is fine.I was wondering if this is normal on a cinq, has anybody else experienced this?
Many Thanks in advance.
Gareth

Mine's like that aswell, I just assumed that it's because it's flippin' freezing outside at the minute, and on the move is because your forcing cold air in through the front.

Back when the weather was occasionally hot (October:rolleyes:) it seemed to run at almost 90 all the time.

when the car isnt moving the engine is still is,when something cant move it wastes energy, most common form of energy is heat,in the summer i found my cinq to run rather hot sat in traffic,on the move it was a happy 90,now in the cold i have little trouble starting but still runs rather cool,as long as it doesnt frie itself, its all good

All good i'd say as long as the heater gets warm then its a ok:)

As long as ur fan turns on and ur meter doesnt go to the red, ur good.

It's when ur fan turns on and ur temp meter goes to the redline that u have a problem, the headgasket is bad or ur head isnt straight anymore.

But urs is fine (y)

I got same as you.

When you say "cool" how cool do you mean?

My "new" Cento runs way cooler than my other one. My old one has aircon so it's bit different, but on open road the old runs at 80 and my new one runs at 75.

Many thanks one and all,it looks like I may have changed the stat for no reason at all then, when I say cool I mean 70 which is a bit misleading anyway because ive noticed that the gap between 50 and 70 on the gauge is way smaller than the gap between 70 and 90! ie the gauge doesnt read in a linear fashion so at first glance "70" appears to look very low on the gauge when in fact its only 20 degrees from where you would want it to ever reach anyway.Hopefully all is good then. Thanks once again.

When i had an Alu radiator it would struggle to hit 60 degrees, so i just blanked off some of the rad for autumn to late spring.

On open road 70ish looks ok. If you feel that the car struggles to hit a good temperature, the thermostat could be stuck open making it harder to heat-up. Should act about the same in traffic/city driving.
