Hi does anybody know what is involved in the removal of the fuel tank on a spi seicento. my friends car is leaking when about half full and needs it changing asap. Can anybody give me some pointers please..

Make sure its as empty as you can.

Spray Plus Gas on the rear bolts twice a day every day for a week before starting the job.

Lift the diamond panel under the rear seat and carefully pull the electrical connections.

Undo the nut that holds the supply and return pipes and lift them clear.

Get the car in the air supported on axle stands, always give it a shoogle before getting underneath.

Undo the filler tube from the tank, make sure their is a catch can underneath it to cath the fuel thats left.

Release the exhaust from the rubber mountings, the flexi will allow you to get it far enough out of the way.

Support the tank as you undo it, you can try and drop the nearside first as this will keep the fuel in it.

Once its out, remove the sender, half a turn gets it out. Undo the wee bolts and lift the pump assemby out. You will not get the pump out without lifting the sender first.

Replacement is the reverse of removal as said in Mr hayne's book.

Cheers

When I did mine, I syphoned most of the fuel out via the filler.
The remainder I carefully drained from the tank with the filler tube disconnected.
You can get most of it out by tilting the tank.

Check your front to back brake pipes whilst the tank is off,if they're corroded it will save a packet if you can do it your self
