Over the past few weeks its been pointed out to my that my speedo is wrong.... Most annoying thing is it says im doing 30 and dad folllowed to doing 24! Now I would go say 35 and make it up or whatnot but knowing my luck the one time i do it will be right and i get pulled and i allready have 3 points.... But today was the nail in the coffin when my speedo said i was doing 80 and dad passed me doing 65.... has this happend to anyone else? Also what is best thing to do?

most cars over read but you could have a cable from a 899 or a worn one that could be slipping slightly

yeh new cable tbh mate. although my mates did this and it was the clocks at fault... there cheap as chips in a scrappy

Cable will make no difference, but the head may be faulty.

Have you changed the dial background?

Yeah, well I am going to try get new one... It only had new one afew months ago though....

if the cable looks fine then go back out with a gps or what ever and with the car in 4th or 5th get up to say 60mph and look at the rpm gauge.

go back home... remove the surround and unclip the perspex from the cluster. pull the needle off then jack the front of the car up and put the car in the same gear you used and match the revs then pop the needle back on at what ever speed the gps was showing

not the safest way to do it so use common sense.

way I did mine was... removed the surround and perspex and needle but replaced it on lightly.
drove the car down a well knowen and empty duel carrageway at 60 (satnav speed) then pulled the needle and replaced it at 60.

my speedo reads about 1mph over and about 3mph under at 90mph
