i have a very strange whine when i come off the throttle after hard acceleration
Defiantly the Cam belt end of the engine bay looked at the cam belt and it seems in good nick

btw only does it when the car is on the move

see if you can simulate it on the drive.. if so then stick a screwdriver in places whilst the noise is happening and put ear on end as a makeshift stephoscope.. see if you can narrow it down

if it doesnt do it when holding rpm and not moving then i have to say wheel bearing... its the only thing that will be moving that revving the engine wont test.... other than drive shaft but that would be passanger side at the box.. could be gearbox itself but again passanger side.

other option in this salty weather is the alternator but that would do it without the car moving just under rpm

Hi

David is normally correct but also try running without cam belt cover as well, my cover needs lots of adjustment to keep it quiet. I need a new cover basically.

The alternator is also a suspect the bearings can make noise check there is no play across the axis of bearings - there can be end play...

Check the whine is not steering dependent...
