hi all, im fitting a new water pump to my daughters seicento sporting tommorow and could use some advice regarding bleeding the system afterwards. ive scanned through the relevant posts and the water pump guide so im ready to go! the only thing im unsure of is bleeding the system afterwards, some posts say bleed with engine off others say engine running with heater on,whats he best way? any imfo appreciated...

personally i would do it with the engine running.. bleed the one by the headlight first squeezing the hose if nessacary. then if its there do the one on the firewall. run till fan kicks in. let engine cool and repeat until fully bled...
oh yeah no touching the accelerator lol. someone did this to my friend once.. a geyser of scalding water isnt very funny

You can do it cold.. it's only to let the air out, after all.

There's a bleed screw on the back of the radiatore.. by the driver's side headlamp.. and also a bleed screw on the hose that goes to the heater.. near the bulkhead/battery.

Do the radiatore first and then with the engine running and the heater set to maximum "Hot", so that the channel is open. You just undo the screws (don't take them right out as it's impossible.. but fun! trying to get them back in with coolant pissing out! :D)

For the heater hose, you can pressurise the header tank by blowing into it to force the coolant through... since the hose is pretty high and the coolant might be reluctant to climb up there.. but don't get coolant on your mouth, since it's pretty nasty, toxic stuff.

When coolant emerges from the hole, tighten the screw up. That's it... but it's good practice to always let the system cool down and then top up the coolant afterwards.
