Looks like others have had the same problem, but I'll add this tread as I haven't actually seen anyone say they have got a fix.

Anyway. The front wipers are dead. Symptoms started with the intermitant speed failing, then the normal speed not working, then the other day the remaining fast speed failed = no more windscreen wipers.

The rear still works so not the fuse.

Is there a relay? or could it be the actual motor itself? Being new to Sie's I'm at a loss, especially as Haynes won't touch them & the L.Porter manual I have isn't complete wrt wipers & electrics.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi,
The cinq manual may not be much use for the wiper problem, my cinq manual only covers the 2 speed wipers on the earlier cinq's, so a sei may have a different setup...
On the cinq the wiper controller is on the motor, no timer relay for the intermittant etc, but the sei may have had a relay cos of the 3 speeds, it might say in the handbook that came with the car...

Thanks
Paul T

Thanks to both of you for the replies. The L.Porter manual I have covers re-fitting a wiper motor for the Fiats & what you've said confirms my suspitions that there is no seperate relay. I think the motor is cream crackered.

Time to cough up for a new one...

The wipers are a different design from a sei and cinq so it cud b a different setup!

I went & got a new motor from the Fiat dealer - cost around 70 notes.

Figured fitting shouldn't be too difficult - I've worked on all my car engines before.

Well Fiat, you tried very hard to make it impossible to change the motor at home without removing the engine! :bang:
But Hah! I succeeded. Snow storm, grazed knuckles, swearing & all aside, but hey I have fully functional windscreen wipers in time for the MOT. (y)
