i havent got access to my tow eye anymore, so if i need a tow im screwed

i noticed on an mpi sei what to me looks like a tow bracket



i am just wondering if it is, as it could be worth a bodge cause it only looks like a manifold heatshield that needs to be fitted onto mine

i deont think a tow hook would be mounted on the engine!!!

it would be on the chassis/frame so that there would be no danager of twisting brackets etc!!!!

no looks like a engine lifting eye to me, AA could still tow you with a dolly or A frame.

hmm i thought as much cause i was thinking it shouldnt really be towed by the engine

i wasnt allowed on the A frame in skeg, said i was too low had to wait for a flat back and that had to drag the car by the front shock - i hadnt even had my new bumpers put on then

could i get a tow hook welded onto a part of the car as i dont fancy making a hole in my bumper for the orginal tow hook to go through

i would make the hole for the propper one, if you do pot new one on, dont forget to concider the angle of the tow pole, if eye is too far back the pole will come up and crack the bottom of bumper.


Also if bumper is low it may scrape on the ramp of a recovery lorry

Can you get the original screw in eye fitted, or fit a cinq with aircon variety? That has a bracket that bolts on under the headlight and the eye screws into it.

the original screw eye will still come through bumper

the bracket under the headlight sounds ideal, a trip to scrappies might be in order

Twas only fitted to air con cinqs, so you won't find one in the uk. Fiat do list the parts though, it's something I'm looking into for the black 'un. Will take pics if you remind me (goldfish brain!)

And you could have one of those little stickers that say "tow" on them with an arrow

pete, the abarth kitted ones have that too, not just the aircon cinqs, my middle yellow one had one of those

do you mean the same as a cinq sx as they have screw in tow eyes just under passenger headlight in the fake air feed hole

That's them, it's not just the air con ones then

my sx did that too.

mine dont!! mines just sat on the bumper

if anyone has the different tow hook than normal can you post a few pics of it up here please

Gaz, the parts for the cinqy one look like this - it comes out in the passenger side air intake bit of the bumper.
