Got myself a Seicento, but can somebody help with a few questions please!

Ok, so I got my Cinq Sporting almost 2 years ago
Problem is, it more or less runs perfect and I have nothing to do with it!

Sooooo
Today I picked up a 2000 Seicento S for VERY small money and got a loan of a transporter and brought her home

Now, a few questions

1. The car is badged as a Seicento S. Its year of reg is 2000. It certainly LOOKS like it's an S (no colour coded bumpers, mirrors etc), BUT, when I check www.cartell.ie (Irish registration site), it shows as a 1100? So off I go and open the bonnet, and sure enough, theres a 1.1 FIRE engine in it, just like my Cinq Sporting.

I thought the Seicento S was 899 cc??

2. I have taken the VIN from the label on left hand side in the boot and each time I enter it into Eper, I get an error message. I double checked the VIN and it seems correct and the chassis number on the plate also seems correct.

Is it possible that some cars are not on Eper, or is there an error for everybody at the moment when they put in the VIN?

That's all I can think of right now. It was dark by the time I got back here, so tomorrow will be the first proper run through of the car and I'll be back with more questions I'm sure

By the way, here's a quick picture

any time ive ever put a vin number in to a web site it always comes up as invalid ive tried several cars lol so i kinda fink there all a big con to get money of the advertising and i think there was bigger engine sizes available im not to sure but iirc you can get bigger 899 cc and shes lookin good in the pic :)

dunno if this is true i might b remembering wrong but i think i heard somewhere they started using fire engines after some year because of emmitions or something like that im not to sure tbh i just heard that somewhere might not b true lol

Been reading around since and it would appear that in actual fact they used the SPI engines like the 1.1 Cinq Sporting up until 2000 and then dumped that engine due to emissions and changed to the MPI.

So, that kinda makes sense alright

Only thing that's baffling me still, is why the 1.1 is fitted in the S model
Unless the Irish spec was different to the UK?

Also, I don't understand why ePER won't accept the VIN number
Maybe it's a general error with ePER at the moment

yeah i just been reading up on it to lol they ditched it all over Europe i think they did it for all the models and i dont know why it wont read the vin number sorry :/ might just be a site error or something btw you got any plans for the car?

Actually it seems its the 899 that was scrapped and the 1.1 single point injection was changed to multi point injection.

Didn't really have plans other than clean her up and get her running right. Believe me, that back view makes it look very good! It needs a good bit of work to clean it up, but mechanically, all I can see is I need a wheel (as it has the spacesaver on it and no spare!) and need to sort the exhaust as its blowing terrible

Again, I'm not sure as I didn't really get a chance to look her over yet, but it starts and drives, so it can't be too bad I'm hoping ! LOL

The only thing is, since I found it has the 1.1 engine, I'm almost half tempted to see what would be involved in changing it to the Sporting version, but by the time I do all that, I might buy a Sporting for less money!!

Thats funny!
In the Cinq Sporting, I think Red & Yellow are the only 2 colours!!!
I actually want to get a nice Yellow Cinq Sporting, but personally, I like the silver/gray Seicento Sporting

Found some nice pics of one

October 2000 was when it went to MPI, thats all models through the range

If its registered after that date then its a straight forward explanation

However the interior (looking at the headrests only) is from an 899 model

Its possible that its a different spec to the english ones, but sounds like its had an engine change at some point, mainly because if it looks like your cinq sporting engine that is a 1108 SPI unit, the MPI engines look different

Either way its all legal if its showing up on your irish website as a 1108 as the engine change has been declared

they do cinq sportings in loads of colors, red, yellow, black, silver, imola. there is loads of them.

and the seicento sx was the 899 was it not and the s the 1108 engines. then they moved to the active with the 1108mpi units in.

to change yours to a sporting you would need.
bumpers
arb
supsension
exhaust
alloys
tacho
carbon look heater surround
de-badge

and jobs is a good one. say hello to the seicento sporting.

and seats, fogs and i think they have a slightly different steering wheel. just to add to the shopping list :) doubt seats are that important to the look though

Well it seems the engine wasn't replaced anyway
If I'm not mistaken, the engine code for the 1.1 from the Cinq Sporting is 176B2.000?

Here's what is on the plate in the boot

Just been out with it there taking a few pics and giving it a general check all round

By the way, if any of you are wondering how the hell I hadn't spotted all this first, I bought it for *parts* and paid such small money for it, that I didn't even consider keeping it as a driver until it started with first turn of the key and drove up on to the transporter!!

It really does need a lot of cleaning up, both inside and out, but thats no hassle.
Things I've noticed

1. Front bumper broken on drivers side and a crack on passengers side "plastered" over with silicone!!

2. Not a drop of ANY liquid in the coolant bottle!

3. Oil filler cap seems to have slight mayo appearance

4. Section of exhaust missing from centre box to back box

5. Front wipers don't work, but the motor is working, so assume its a linkage thing

6. Aerial broken

7. Passenger side repeater lens gone

8. Peculiar sound on tickover. Don't even know how to describe it. I'll video it and stick it up here. Seems to be coming from passenger side of engine compartment and it's intermittent.

9. All the steelies are very rough looking and there are only 3 and the space saver.

10. Drivers door handle. It sticks when you lift it and when you shut the door it won't lock, so you have to press the handle back down. Is this just a matter of lubricating the hadle itself, or is there something inside the door that needs to be adjusted or freed up?

.

No

only sporting was 1108 in SPI form (in the english ones) then they all went 1108 when it went to MPI

sporting wheels are the same its the abarths that are different, same with the seats, only the abarth has embroidered logo. and the fogs would be in the bumpers.

as for the sound is the oil full? sounds like a bearing. is it out of gear? release bearing???

your door handles quite a simple fix i had this problem when i got mine i took the door panels of slowly took of the white waterproofing so i could reuse it and used motor oil on the linkages inside i used motor oil rather than wd40 cuz i dident want it to just dry up thn lifted the hadle and put it bak down a few times s the oil could work frew and just did that over and oover again and applied more oil if i needed to mines worked fine for months now:)

Well I spent most of the afternoon scrubbing it up and doing a few bits with it

Here's what I discovered

According to the plate, it's actually a Seicento Suite and it seems these came with the 1100 engine, although there is no badge or marking on it to show it's a Suite? Only the S.

The noise from the engine..........

I actually started another thread for this and might follow it up there, but @clock, it seems to go when I depress the clutch alright.

Cheers andy for the info on the door handle
Is that a common issue on the Sei? It's almost like the door handle has no spring back.
Anyway, I can do as you said and it seems to have worked for you :)
