Ok the sei is running rich.

its burning fuel like its free and leaving black marks all over the back of the car. its spluttering betweek 2k-3k when cold but seems fine everywhere else. when its warmed up the "flat"spot is reduced to about 200rpm somewhere in the range and isnt as bad.

idles fine at about 900rpm 13-1400 when freezing.

ive put a brand new inlet temp senser in to no change.
ive put a new fuel filter on as old one was 11 years old. no change.
ive turned the fpr down due to the less pressure with the easier flowing fuel filter and no change. (from max screwed in how many turnes back out should it go as its been messed up and i dont know where standard is?)
reset the ecu. no change.
new oil and oil filter and new air filter. again no change.

any ideas as to what to change now?

p.s was running on three cylinders quite often when first started up. but coils are fine as are leads and plugs look fine and cleanish. quick blip would sort it out and wouldnt occur again untill it was cold as **** and first start up.

starts quicker and easier than any other cento ive ever been in. (think the lightened flywheel helps) but runs mega rich.

no managment light at all. o2 sensor. that the maf tihng on the plate near the ecu?

oh and i wired a water temp guage up to the inlett temp sensor and its reading about 85 degree when the fan kicks in and 80 when it goes off. but when im driving its reading 40(lowest dial goes) when driving 50mph and over and 50 degree when just moving. now i no its cold out but could this indicate to a thermostat thats stuck open?

O2 (or sometimes lambda) sensor I'm pretty sure sits in the exhaust manifold, and tells the ecu how much oxygen is in the exhaust so it can modify the fuel/air ratio.
