Or get another key cut... They not that expensive really. As opposed to the cost of having to get a new one after you've lost the only one you have.

I have a 99 sei as well. AND work in the business of key cutting, a spare for mine is only £35.

However, think yourself lucky. I quoted for a 2002 punto yesterday £185!

Yeah, Newer BMW's have rolling immobiliser codes. So very expensive to do. I ALWAYS send beemer owners to the dealer. The same with newer Merc and Volvos as well.

Yeah, that's them.

The guy said yours is like that? Unless it's been swapped out for a beemer or merc immo (which I highly doubt) he's talking bull-droppings! Just making excuses to charge you more!

Early Sei chips are clonable there's no more special equipment needed other than a clever little machine that takes the code from your key and copies it onto a new one. (Copy and Paste if you like)

Yep, second blue for my 98 Cinq (old CODE system like a 99 Sei) was £35 from a FIAT dealer.

Also look up Timpson in the yellow pages. The local branch cut two blues from my brother's red key for less (each) than my one from the dealers.

think your worrying about the wrongt hing...

even if you get it decoded and loose the ONLY key your still up the creek..... whats not having a immobiliser going to do to fix it??

you need another key anyways so get one cut lol ther not too bad if you shop around.

i was gunna get one that only opened the doors and not ignotion as the imoblisers there a uncoded one was really cheep but imight as well just get a coded one

so can some one tell me if the immobilizer can by by pass and some diagrams pls because i have only the red key and lost the chip inside... pls if someone can help me this is my e-mail [email protected]

Should be no problem with the code1 system.
An imm off chip will do the job, but it can affect your insurance payout if the car gets nicked, insurance guys can soon see if its been hot wired or keyhole damaged, because thats all thats needed to steal the car then.
Making a clone key from the immo box is done everywhere, about £70.
If you already have a key a clone is about £30, available everywhere.
