As Cinq owners you will probably know that our cars had a recall some years back...1999 I think? To replace the fuel tanks as the seam wield may start to corrode, causing a fuel leak? Remember? Well it just happens to be that mine was recalled in 1999 and was replaced with a brand spanking new tank. I asked the Fiat garage about the fuel tanks which may have leaked due to this fault and he said that their has only been 2 known cases in the UK. Well two months ago I noticed that inside my car it smelt like a petrol forecourt. I was arriving to uni with a huge smile on my face, took it to the Fiat garage and they told me that the tank (which had been replace) was leaking from the seam wield and was causing the smell. They decided to change the fuel tank free of charge (would of thought they would of replaced it with a plastic one from the sci but kept with the steel one) After they had fitted it they told me that I had no warranty on the tank because I didn't pay for it...can they do this?

i dunno about the warenty, i would have thought the part would still be covered if not the labour.
if i was you i would give the tank a coat of hammerite whilst its still new.

Not sure that I really need too. The new tank looks pretty well coated with underseal so might not bother? Think ive just had enough with my cinq anyway!
