The wife's seicento sporting has developed this fault were by the clutch pedal after being depressed does not return to the up posistion and the clutch does not engage, so you just sit at the lights engine revving.

Any ideas?

Yes new clutch time, the release bearing is through the tines.

Someone's been riding the clutch.

Could be the short pushrod on the clutch pedal, exactley what happened with ours

could just be the clutch cable has snapped
