Hey Peeps,

My car is currently running at 90 degrees on the motorway and slightly above the 90 mark while in slow moving traffic (say 1mm above 90 degrees mark).

The car just had timing belt/water pumped changed.
Radiator removed and flushed.

Also the car has a lower temp stat fitted as well ...

Is the car running hot? What are you guys running at?

Also oil temp is hitting 100 degrees ... not sure if this is normal either ....

In saying that it is a rather hot day today.

Thanks
Ming

if its had a lower stat it should be lower... has it been blead propperly? and has coolant not jsut water obviously fella.

mine has had the fan on pretty much all today but i dont have a changed stat....

oh and remember 1242's are a tad hotter in there

Yeah bleed it so many times now. And this is the yellow onw only the 1108 :(.

Also found on the first test drive, the two pipes that goes to the heater matrix busted open due the plastic bits that connects the pipes are fooked ....

The raditor is not really on the smart side, but didn't think it could make that much difference ?

Thanks
Ming

Both our cinqs are running just below 90 on the motorway at the moment as its so hot.

They both have alluminium radiators in good condition and maintained cooling systems. They also both have standard thermostats.

Hi all,

my 899cc does not get up above 50 most of the time.
Makes 90 when standing still, then the fan cuts in.

Not sure if the guage is correct, at what temp. should the fan cut in?

John

I would not leave it too long if it blocked as overheating can cause the head gasket to blow, or the head to warp or crack.
Had the gasket go on a Senic, the water pump went, and an Estima casued by a blocked radiator.

hi guys not sure if this will help at all but on my friends metro we took the thermostat completely out of the equation and it stays cold far longer than it did before (result) he can drive like 15 miles in this heat were having;) without it even getting warm :D dunno if this would work on the chinks but im thinking of trying it on my project need it to stay cold :p
thanks alex

Forget it. It will destroy the engine (bore wash). There are lower temperature fan switches and lower temperature thermostats out there.

Seems that your thermostat is stuck open. From cold check the rad inlet pipe from the thermo housing, if this warms with at same as engine, then thermostat is open, if its only gets warm when the engine is warm, then your thermostat is ok, if that is the casue check your temp sender.
