yep thats what i thought. and you wouldnt be able to tell unless you could view the real engine temps the ecu sees.

I explained on another thread a while back.

basically if the thermotat opens fully (sat in traffic for example) when you speed back up it fails to close enough causing a massive undercooling (warmup enrichments restart)

I did loads of tests even bought a new genuine fiat thermostat. 2 new ford stats (incase i had a faulty one when i first did it) and a halfords (not sure on the make) fiat stat.

tried all combos of springs and thermostat and non worked as it should.

I think its something to do with how far the fiat stat is designed to open and the spring pretension.

i bet if you put your low temp stat in a pan with a normal one then heated till they where both fully open then let it cool you will see what i mean. the low temp one will stay open a LOT longer then the normal one. (iirc when the normal one was fully shut the low temp was still about half open)

I'm using a tjet stat housing with thermostat spring and stat from a 1.2 16v engine. The tjet one I had kept seizing halfway open and wasn't allowing anywhere near enough water to flow.

This one is pretty much like a flood gate when it opens :D.

Thanks

Oh hello betty (y)
Update this!

not much to say really.. Didn't do anything new to her last year, just took her for a spin a few times when it was nice weather.

Been amassing parts to make her mpi, which will commence this summer. Hoping to take her to Stanford Hall, but i'll prob save tearing her apart to fit mpi until after that.

Currently sat waiting for an exhaust to be fitted so i can get her MOT'd. Don't worry I will update it when there is something to show you all ;)
