I am having an intermittent squeeking noise on drivers front side on my 99' Seicento SX , It all seems to have started after having recon gear box put in last month , it seems to happen for a few minutes then when starting the car again its gone .

The squeeking does stop when i apply the brakes.

I took wheel off and used brake cleaning type spray which seemed to sort it for a couple of days but its back again.

Any suggestions on what this could be?

could be the pads, take them out give them a clean and put some copper grease on the back of them

Also make sure the brake splashguard hasn't been distorted during the gearbox replacement.
