hello im thinking of getting a seicento sporting, but i have heard bad things, cable clutch is one, i just want to ask somebody what can go wrong and how much thing would cost to get replacced at a garage like a clutch etc. its just it will be my first car, think they look lush, think they are stylish and would love to have one but is it going to break? thanks

There's nothing in the guide about the clutch.

If it's stiff, Then a new release arm and bushes will be required an most likely a new complete clutch.

Great little cars.

My main transport is an Alfa Romeo 155 but the Sei is a bundle of fun.

Head gasket and clutches and the main things to look out for but everything is so cheap on them.

thanks man, yeah i think it will be nice to have one, and for £2000 i think you get alot of car for your money. but if the parts are cheap thats what is important.

imho the centos are very reliable cars. the clutches you hear a lot about it mainly due to the fact most cars are around 10years old. the cables and joints on the shafts are not as free as they used to be so this puts pressure on the thrust bearing.

hell of a lot more reliable and cheaper to fix then any modern car. imho

£2,000 is a lot of money to spend if I'm honest. I got mine 2 years ago with 19k on the clock from a dealer for £1,898 and still to this day feel like I got a bit ripped off...

lol i know, just for some reason they have gone up in price on trader, dont know if i can haggle of what ever. you had any problems with yours?

Only when I left it sitting for 6 months due to unemployment, other than the usual service items it's been spot on (y)

Edit: It still has the same tyres on as when I bought it and just passed an MOT with them!

i really want one, wish they still made them, so you could get newer one than 53, panda in my opinion doesnt look as good but maybe i could get a 500 in a couple of years.

im looking at one with fsh, but i would prefer to get a cheaper one but affraid incase its a shed, £500 is cheap tbh,

yeh classifieds are good. and there all old and have niggley bits. mechanicly mine is fine but the paint really lets it down. but tbh for there age there not going to be perfect but they hold togeather ok

no thats it realistically if you want a sporting 2004 on a 53 is the newest one

maybe some very rare 04 plates of other models but there will not be many

Mine is a 52 plate sporting, paid £1100 with service history and 46,000 miles, happy with it so far, its fun to drive and the roll back roof is nice when its warm:)

I agree with this, I have been looking for a little while and the price seems to have gone up since I got back from holiday in March.

This is my 2nd cento, imho the Sei Sporting just looks so tidy in all colours (but prefer yellow!). The clutch / head gasket issues aside, there should be no major probs - certainly cheap to run and repair. They do turn heads and they are really good fun to drive.

I had to wait for a low miles car with history but I'm glad I did and I got it at a fair price too - some sellers were after silly money for some right sheds.

Left standard they are OK, It is actually nice if the usual problems are well know as you know what to watch out for.

For example I always use to carry a spare clutch cable with me just in case, then you can get the AA/RAC man to change it for you if it goes when away from home

That is what I do - makes life easier & they like being able to mark the job up as repaired by the roadside :D
