I know these cars look Awfull and have been given the worst name known to any car around the world (As far as im aware neways)But this is the Sorta car u would compare to the Seicento Abarth,I aint sure about the Specifications cant rlly be botherd to check,But i was wondering if ne one on here has had Expericance with one of these in a SEI or even a Cing rlly,Which is Quicker The Ford Ugly KA or a Seicento Abarth???
Cheers.

my sister owns one... to be honest, ide have to say they pretty much have the same performance.

the cinq would be quicker off the mark tho. the KA isnt as slow as people say... its a normal hatch. but considering its a 1.3 and a 1.1 sporting would beat it off the mark and could easily match it for performance, its a **** engine lol.

I cant get over 90 in my sisters KA.. it just wont. my cinq can quite easily hit that speed and still keep pulling#

plus, KAs sound like diesels too. and they are horrible to drive. very boring.

Agree with you bushboy, that 1.3-litre unit in the Ka is w**k! Its the old OHV unit IIRC, it's sluggish and unreliable and makes that bloody horrible ticking noise even if the valve clearances are perfectly set up. And 60bhp from a 1.3 is disgraceful! Nearly as bad as those old 60bhp 1.4s that VW used to put in the Golf/Polo.

However, I think that the Ka can look pretty good if it's modded right. i.e. lower it (especially that back end), replace the bumpers with a subtle bodykit, and fit some decent 15/16" alloys.

Well then Ugly Ducklin,If ure Figures are correct a 1.1 Sporting is actually quicker 0-60 which is pretty good considering the diffrence in engine displacement,Im not expecting a huge diffence between the two cars but there has got to be some one with a Sei sporting that has had a shot against a Ka?Surly?Sounds like u loved the ugly looking KA with stupid wrap around the whole car bumpers,Cant understand why u got rid???

Well, I can easily leave a standard Ka for dead in my Punto (used to race my mate in his, kick his ass then take the **** out of his engine ;) ), which has the same engine as a Cinq/Sei Sporting. And the Punto's a bit heavier than a Cinq or Sei, mine's slightly tuned but it's only running 5 or 6bhp more than standard so it probably performs similarly to a standard Sei Sporting.
So in answer to your question: you can blow a standard Ka away no problem :D

I'd guess so Joe, the Fiesta is a bit bigger and heavier than the Ka, and its got that same pathetic excuse for an engine (I have something of a vendetta against those old Ford OHV motors, its that bloody noise they make, it does my head in! :bang: )

I had a MK1 XR2 (the original round head lamp model only made for 18months) which had the OHV Cross-flow engine, i had it bored out to 1760cc with twin Webber 40's, K&N's, Janspeed manifold & exhaust, Kent Rally cams 5 speed gear box conversion from a MK3 Escort RS1600i etc and it was very fast, it could hit 60 in 2nd no problem and didn't stop till you were well past 125mph by which time the flat front halted proceedings! Loved that car, wish I still had it to add to my collection :D

Back on subject tho, I have driven my Dad's black (best colour for them) KA3
which has a better chassis than the Cinq standard, with a infinitely much better, more precise, and solid feeling gear change. At motorway speeds I found it very quiet and relaxed to cruise at 80-85 with easily more to go, but then I don't know if they add more sound proofing to the top end models as it also has a very nice leather steering wheel and gear knob, air-con, CD player, alloys etc etc

I didn't get rid of the KA, it's my mums!

I quite liked the engine characteristics, you get max torque at around 2600rpm I think. The KA weighs more than 200kg more than the Sei, hence the slower speed!

Joe Cinq, my GF has a N plate Fiasco 1.3 and it's deathly slow, Cinq would eat it no bother.

Jsutton, search for Ka in the Cento section and you'll find other threads on the subject.
