hi guys, just seen a similar thread regarding an MPI seicento but my 1242 cinq turbo idles like crap and is defo running very rich.
have replaced things like lambda and vacuum hose, also tried a different dumpvalve and mapsensor but to no avail.
i read in the seicento post that there may be a leak in the exhaust system but the sei is MPI and runs two lambdas i believe?? (sorry if i'm mistaken) also i have had leaky exhaust on the TC before (turbo/manifold join as ever) but its not made it run like this.
seems to feel awfully bogged down on normal running and obv when the turbo spools up and the 2nd injector does its thing then it runs ok but it should be smooth both on and off boost.
so any ideas?

chance i may have replaced the lambda with a duff lambda etc??
any help greatly apprieciated guys :)

also just thought, could the CAT be blocked or knackered? have got a de-cat to put in but i'd rather just use it with CAT tbh as its bloody noisy without!

also it idles perfectly when u unclip the map wires :/ but i guess this sets everything back to nought ready to re-read when the map is plugged back in.

What colour was the lambda that came out of the car?

Blocked CAT would mean car would build up boost very slowly, we had a blocked CAT on Emmas turbo Cinq when we bought it, took it off and stuck a hairdryer on it, got nothing out the other side. Stuck a new CAT on car ran to over 2BAr of boost as we wrongly thought the reason teh car was so slow was it was getting no boost.

Do you know for sure that the primary injector is running OK as if it runs por on idle only the primary injector is being used, 2nd injector only coming in when MF2 senses boost to fire it.

And the pressure been adjusted on the primary injector at the throtle body?

As the fuel cut defender by Van Aaken was clipped into teh two wires from teh amp sensor, is it still functioning correctly, it may be sending worng signal to the map sensor hence when unplugged running fine.

I had to replace a VAD FCD as it went, plenty on ebay, HKS, Turbosmart etc come up 2nd hand cheap.

Hi mate, thanks for swift reply.

removed lambda was pretty sooty tbh. one i have replaced it with was brand spanking.

I will try another injector and yep pressure is set correctly. However, if the injector was not working correctly would the warning light not be on on the dash?
The boost builds nice and fast so i guess that rules out the CAT. also it was fine in MOT emissions wise except for the lambda reading.

also how would i go about checking the FCD?

dont know if this could be right but shouldnt the timing be set slightly different for the compression ratio your running/vernier pulleys? to check the fcd alex put a multimeter on it and see what voltage its sending think in one of trickers posts it tells u the correct voltage u need for fuel cut

Gaz mate its got a FIAT punto timing belt. Also its not a continuous problem, it has run perfectly one or two times in the last few weeks.
so i'm not sure if timing is the problem.

cheers alex its pretty obvious its running a punto timing belt u peen! just wondered as its running such low compression compared to std maybe timing needed to be advanced/retarded. put the decat back on u girl! xx

..also it idles perfectly when u unclip the map wires :/ but i guess this sets everything back to nought ready to re-read when the map is plugged back in.

I had a novitec turbo computer and a sei with similar problems, the rich running was due worn down piston ring in the first cylinder which smoked the lambda. Also it idled very rough too (replaced the stepper motor 3 times with no result), I swapped the whole ecu with a Megasquirt :D

What I want to say is, maybe the ecu modified the table due a default but reading it as normal, like a worn down piston ring, so maybe a re-map can solve it? Unplugging the map sensor will lead to a safe-mode map right?, which explains why it runs great without map sensor input?!

Just suggestions! correct me if wrong plz (y)
