Well got me supersprint manifold installed today and had the bloke fix a pipe inplace of the kat so now its dekat.

Sounds great at low and high revs with an almighty roar but wen at full thottle and between 3 and 3.5k revs i get a really tingy sound, which i really really hate

I normally laugh at all the rude boys wit there crap exhaust wen it does that on there car, now it does it on mine :(

Does anyone have any ideas wat it could be?

Maybe the joints aint tight enuf, or the heat shield of a bracket maybe, never used to do it.

Set up is SuperSprint Manifold - Stainless Pipe (for dekat) - FlexiPipe - Powerflow Backbox.

Any advice much appriciated :D

Yeah i know, i gotta replace it that aint a problem, he bloke just said come back for MOT time and we'll do it for ya, he wealded new flange on it so to fit exactly in wit my supersprint aswell, he said only be a 10 min job.

Plus only passed the MOT last week, so not got to worry bout it for a while :D Yeah heat shield will be the first thing i check, do i really need it ?

It could be a kind of harmonic, and so only becomes apparent at certain revs. You may be able to dial it out with acoustic pads etc.
You could get underneath and feel all over the exhaust whilst somebody revs it to the point where it starts to go all rattly, and that would confirm whether it's exhaust or not. If it is, do like Ash says and check all your joints etc.

If it's not, you could try all your panel fits, and dash and seats and trim etc etc. Then maybe try to get it soundproofed so you cut out the vibration.

You used to be able to get acoustic pads (made of bitumen - a bit like Brown Bread - which used to help a lot. You could prob do the same nowadays with BB or similar.

Keep pegging away at it - hopefully you'll find the answer eventually. :)

I hear this all the time, Astra's, and Cavaliers are the worst culprits, there is a metallic sound simply due to the lack of boxes in the exhaust.

Just the throws up between de-catting really unless you get a small silencer put in but the local boy racers will give your car more respect no doubt now because they know the sound.
