OK V reg Seicento Sporting does not start. When ignition is turned CODE light illuminates then goes off, fuel pump is heard to prime but engine does not turn over. The car will start if 'bumped' but not if 'jumped'.

Battery appears to be OK, earths seem to be clean and tight :bang:

Any suggestions welcomed!!!

Battery connections, assuming you tried to jump it battery to battery.

Thereafter, starter motor or connections

Yep have removed starter and cleaned terminals and removed a load of crystallised crap from inside.
There does not appear to be any current flowing through the thinner of the 2 wires though but can't find where it goes

Mystery solved

I bought the car as a non-runner (£150...result!!) and it appears the previous owner had tried to wire an unknown item into the vehicle and had cut the ignition wire and then reconnected it wrong.... of course he was mystified as to why it wouldn't start and had the AA out to tell him it was the immobiliser
