My ECU light came on last weekend, car does hardly any miles so it was about 3 days before she was running again, 5 mins after refuelling the light went back out again, and I thought I was sorted...

However, it has since come back on and I have trawled the site to see if there is anything I should be checking myself before shelling out to have it put on the computer. Car is running beautifully (always has, only 13k on the clock!) and the engine seems dry, warm and cold air blowing when tested, no gunk in the oil. I can't think what it would be!

Unfortunately I am looking to sell the wee beastie as I need money for a flat deposit and I'd like to solve the problem as quickly and inexpensively as possible.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers,

Chris

When mine came on it was the temp sensor, but I had a problem with revs at high speed, like it had a limiter and then it started revving a lot, but it didnt start being like that straight away, just over time. There is a thread on here somewhere about how to test your sensor, worth a try.
Cheers

Cheers mate.

I see from rallcinq's comments on your thread that to test the temp sensor you need a multimeter, which I don't have. Unfortunately though I am keen on my motor I have no facilities (in the process of moving) and only basic tools. :bang:

I called my local dealers, who are after £68 just to do the diagnostic  that isn't on!

I've a feeling I may be up a certain creek...

I've taken her a drive, oil and coollant have been checked about 15 times today!

WD-40 over everything that smelled even a little bit electrical, nothing else done. Light still on.

Drove very gently to 5-a-sides tonight, after an hour of me overheating turned the ignition and no light.

Je ne me comprends pas!

At no point has performance been affected in any way so I think I might save myself the diagnostic money unless it comes back on.

Weird. Maybe its just the legendary ghosts in Fiat electrics... or Rallycinq's driving her hard idea had secret logic?! Either way, cheers! :)

Anyone wanna buy the lowest milage Sei on the market? No warning lights showing or anything! :p

Light stayed out!

Maybe it was the WD-40, maybe it was an Easter miracle...

Either way the little yellow beastie has now been sold (for £1100) to fund the deposit on a flat, as I am presently without fixed abode. I need the cash right now to cover the deposit but once I've had a chance to save again I'll return to the forum.

Quite fancy a JTD Stilo, though the 3 door versions are like hen's teeth!

Anyway; cheers for the help folks!

Chris
