Hi - hope someone can help. My partner has a 53 1.1 Seicento. Speedo stopped working, next day the amber engine warning light came on when she was driving. So - sounds simple enough, took car to local garage who read the diagnostics - Speed Sensor Malfunction!!!

So bought a new sensor and fitted it - but still no speedo and light still on. So disconnect battery for half an hour to hopefully wipe out the incorrect readings - long shot I know. No joy and still the same.

Any one any ideas before I have to put it into a garage?

Cheers

SPD - Thanks - I will check the oil level (I assume that a low level will affect the sensor somehow?) - I have also been told to check the small gear that the sensor 'reads', anyone any experience of this at all?

If the gearbox oil level has droped significantly the bearings on the diff can wear dropping the speedo gear below where it needs to meet the sender.
