ive recently bought a 2001 seicento sporting and its got an oil leak that appears to be coming from under the coil packs. Any ideas on how to fix??
|It also has trouble tickin over when the engine is warm an trys to stall but mostly idles around 500 rpm. anybody know why

The carrier that the coil packs live in is plugged (coaxial with the camshaft) into the side of the cylinder head. The plug is sealed with a rubber O ring, if there is lots of oil under the carrier casting the o ring may need replacing.

When you get the carrier out, clean out the hole & apply lots of clean engine oil distribute it well, with a clean rag & then degrease the carrier spigot, replace the o ring and apply a continuous bead of RTV next to the o ring, replace the carrier.

It might not leak, without the RTV.

dont mean to be thick but whats rtv?
the pipe what comes from underneath the airbox to the rocker cover has got a split in it but the insert covers that. where else can i check?

Hi

David is correct you should not need sealant with a new o ring, but this is a Fiat ... if the old ring has cuts or splits the castings may have rough edges, and the sealant will fix any bad symptoms, it would not be good if it gets into the oil passages.

If it is leaking it may be because the crank case and cam shaft area is pressurised. It is desirable that all the pipe-work is intact and clean of any gum. I recommend replacing compromised pipes.

The wee cars go ok when they work.
