Does anyone know, if when the ignition barrel is removed from the car, whether you should be able to turn the key in the barrel or not.

I am guessing its a yes, as you have to turn the key to "mar" i believe to operate the small lever on the side allowing removal of barrel from the assembly.

Or does it need some power or the code ring ?

I can't turn my key, and trying to work out if the barrel is buggered or not.
