Hi all

I have found a couple of threads about fitting an 8v head to a 16v block. wether its 1369 or 1242 block it sounds like it would work, but havent seen anyone with it installed & running.

Im gonna get a 16v engine with a broken head/valve issue very cheap from a spares car!

So im thinking as the bolt holes and channels line up, so i can make a 1242 8v and run it spi. Im not looking for any more power than a normal 1242 - so 60bhp...

I know the pistons are the main difference, but i dont think these will cause any problems? Would they lower the compression ratio?

I have a 1997 1108 8v spi, any ideas if this would have a suitable cam pulley? Or would i have to use the crank pulley & sensor etc from the 1108 block?

Im thinking about getting a punto 75 cam too while i'm at it :)

Your thoughts?

Thanks all

Thanks arc

I was just tempted as were getting a parts car with 1242 16v block. Very good point about the posible damage to the pistons too.

I found this thread b4

Thanks anyway but I popped over to Kristian & took a look, from what I can tell from the 8v gasket that I have when lined up on a 1368 block the oil & waterways aren't actually too bad a match - Kristian pointed out that when you know better what you are looking at the differences in holes aren't so bad, probably be to restrict & therefore vary coolant flow rate according to piston location & varied temperature.

I guess it didnt work - and thats why theres no more info

thanks :slayer:

dont worry dude, its a no go anyway for me if the compression ratios too low.

I can imagine they probs almost line up, but make a mess of oil and water flow etc...

would it be good for a turbo set up? Not that im planning to go down that route, just out of interest :)
