Hi people, I hope someone can help me... I have tried to start the siencento (approx 10 years old) with both the blue key and the red key.

The lights on the dashboard light up and the 'code' light with a key image is also illuminating (not noticed this before), the car will not start or even turn over. We've tried to jump start it but this doesn't work either so it can't be the battery.

Does anyone have any ideas why the car will not start? It started fine a few days ago so this is really puzzling me :-(

Any comments and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
We tried to jump start it from my brothers car but still no joy. What do you think the problem could be?
Many thanks.

Try jumping:

Good battery + dead battery +
Good battery - dead car chassis earth

Could be a completely dead battery or, as rallycinq says, bad earth. If the "proper" jump technique works, go round the car, starting with the battery terminals, cleaning them up, smearing with vaseline, etightening, going on to at least the engine bay earths (inner wings).

Does it start with a push start??

I'm guessing it may be the starter motor.
Try hitting the starter motor.

hi if the light is on and will not start the alarm / immobeliser is triggered so will not start switch the immobiliser off under the bonnet then switch it back on again have you got the fob alarm the battery might have gone in that but if you switch off the immobeliser under the bonnet it should start
