Hi

After searching around here I got the impression that it is not really possible to change the spedo lights (well the colour) without a major effort...true?
But I was wondering if it possible to change the lighting that does the switches (heater lights, fog blower....i.e whatever is backlighting all the centre console switches.
Anyone tried it? Could it be a simple as ordering some LED's from Maplin?? I doubt it but you never know.

Oh and it's on a 98 Sei Sporting.

not too sure about the Sei but arseofbox has done so on his Cinq

i think on a cinq, all the switches have a green tint on them and the bulbs are clear. It would be re-tinting all the switches to change the colour.

I may be wrong tho, its been a while since i had my dash out last.

yep some bulbs also have a thin coat of green, but the switches have a green layer inside them, know of a few people who have found a way around, but cant think how off the top of my head sorry i cant be of more help

Switches...use LEDs and the tint becomes invisible

The dash (dial lighting) is an arse and a half to do right, but looks cool....
The heater controls can be done, but the general consensus amongst those that have done is it that its only a limited amount of success!

dials look bang on when u get them done... i have a pic of mine in my gallery!!! and even have wide angle blue led bulbs comin for them today or tomorrow, the heater matrix i think will b a custom job, but will have to get it all apart to c how i am gonna do it!

Blue dials is also a major discussion in the greek clubcento. I placed an order on some blue dials form german Ebay and after installation we managed to get different colors, from aqua to deep (VW style) blue. Here are some pics:


About the central console, it needs to de-solder green or red leds and solder blue ones for the fog lights/rear window heater and place some blue leds inside the heater module and window switches:

Hope these are of some help - yes they are for the Sei but the principles are the same.

but i am nearly done with my dash colour conversion... just waitin on a final 5 bulbs to change an i am done... wait an c!

I was looking at the electroluminescent film, but looks like it could be a bit on an @rse to trim and power up.

Oooh...methinks the Glow's might be on for a rebuild!

It says it can be trimmed, but not so sure about making holes in it for dial spindles.
It should give a uniform spread of light instead of the gauge gubbins showing through. :yuck:

Oooh, excellent...its a bit costly though ((cos Id think yude need the big sheets)..

Id think its definately something to look into...

I forget that most people can't sneak stuff through the company purchasing system

only problem is the 3 dials are seperate so u would need to join the pieces somehow.

plus if u find out if u an do that an drill holes in it with it still workin i think u need to sneak a few sheets out hehe
