i have found a place that can make me a custom exhaust manifold

what are the advantages with a custom manifold, or would i be better sticking with a supersprint one designed for the sei

im just in the thought process at the mo, so any help appreiciated

thanks

Would of thought a custom one would have the same benifits as a supersprint one maybe less, but obvisouly only if they knew wat they were doing, unlike some powerflow peps we all heard about.

Ya cant really get any better than a 4 - 2 - 1 manifold, unless they could make summit along the lines of a 4 - 2 - 1 but wen the 2's join into the main 1 have the joins not together but a few inches apart, if u understand wat i mean?

Hmm would that actually work i wonder.

Depends...wheres the place? Powerflow might not be too clever...but a properly flowed and well designed one would be a winner..

Names and looking for reputations etc is a good start

There is TTCM (Tube Torque Competition Manifolds) in Macclesfield that seem very good, but Ive only heard from people who have had cat back (and decat) work.

the place im looking at is Alunox in wrexham

i only have his word that he does a good system, thats why i am a bit dubious about getting one

i doubt it would be flowed, etc... as all i can see in his workshop is pipe benders, but tbh, i dont really know what is involved in testing/producing a manifold

he does work on many cars, apparantly he did a full exhaust on a lancia with a ferrari engine in

That would be the Thema you are talking about Gaz.

Advantages of custom manifold would be it could be made to join any other zorst you have as opposed to Supersprint or bust.

he made it sound like a one off transplant

i think if i went custom manifold, i would get rid of poweflow and get the whole lot done

it looks like he makes cats too, is that possible, i always assumed they where specially made

Gaz, If your interested I have a complete Seicento Group N system that I'm now looking to sell. It comes with a 4-2-1 manifold, decat pipe and back box. I'm looking for around £200, If your interested I'll let you have some pics. I'm planning to put it on Ebay tomorrow.

A properly designed manifold and system will add power and torque to an engine. It works by creating just the right amount of velocity in the exhaust to create a 'sucking' effect - drawing the last of the exhaust gas from the cylinders and allowing more of the cylinder to be filled with fresh fuel and air to create a bigger bang next time around. A badly designed system can do the opposite and either give no gains or even losses. A 6" exhaust system (i.e. not just tailpipe) on a cento would be a silly idea for just this reason.

Yeah..Its for that reason that GSR recommend a 2.5" max (I think) pipe diameter for main tubing on Cento exhaust systems...It just makes the pressure wave in the system a bit squiffy

these supersprint stainless systems for the cinq i hear u speak of, can they b hooked to a standard mid section?

well fancy the sound of that! might have to tone down the exhaust tho lol

another quick question, anyone had dealings with longlife? hear they make good custom back boxes!!!

longlife use a higher grade steel than powerflow, im guessing it will not tarnish like my powerflow

i think i will give the custom manifold a miss, although they looked nice in his workshop, i dont want to screw up my car
