Please could someone tell me the difference between SPI and MPI?

I own a '99 Seicento Sporting.... which one do i have.. as every site i look at for a 57i kit seems to different...???

thanks.

You will have the SPI (single point injection). MPI is multi point injection.

The filter for the SPI is much wider in shape wheras for the MPI it is much more cone shaped and taller. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe the shape was changed in the newer model because of some new stuff they found out which related to performance and shape. Anyway, the fitting to the throtle body may differ between the SPI and MPI.

A simple way to make sure yours is an SPI sporting is the bumpers and side rubbing strips. They are different on the SPI (mk1 Sei) and MPI (mk2 Sei). If you look at my Avatar, the front bumper is that of an MPI. Also the MPI has plain black rubbing strips wheras the SPI has a kinda gradient effect.

just out of interest, how long is the neck on the SPI cone? On the MPI, its only about the length of 2 times the width of the screwy clampy thingy (does that make sense? I can't think of the name atm. they are at the top of aisle 17 on ya left at work. thats all i know. lol).

thats the one. i considered saying that but I thought best not to in case I make a prat of myself. Seems strange that the whole design is different though. Probably something to do with throttle body width or bonnet clearance.
