HI,

I been runing my cinq sx for a couple fo weeks, but for one a couple of short runs etc.

I find the temp sensor goes way over 90 when i am in traffic etc, I also am now finding the colent is boiling all the time when i open the hud, just after stopping. could it be the expansion cap, or air in the colent system? or is my therstat broke?

or is my raditor ran broke, as i have not seen it running yet?

is the thermastat the same as the ones on the 1.1? as my local car shop/halfords dont stock one for cinq sx?

thanks

the cinq's run at a high temp anyway and the fan will cut in at about 90. esp when sitting in traffic. im not to good with engines so best to get it checked anyway.

on mine it turned out my radiator was full off gunge at the bottom, and therefore blocking water from running through it. In the end I ended up needing a new head gasket and radiator!

I've listed a few common faults, may give you something to go on.

Good luck.

thanks fitit, was just reading that, going to give it a flush etc and see how it is, if not i think i need a new fan, I they the same on all cinq including the sporting?, or are the sx different?

Happened to me, overheated without the fan kicking in found out the thermostat was shot, cost £15 for a new one.

I have considerably more mods, THAN YOU!

Cinqs will run hotter in summer, especially when you've got the heater on cold, as it draws less heat off the engine.

Well not been able to drive the car for a while, due to work etc

well, this weekend, I got round to having a proper look at it and fitted a new expansion cap, gave the raditor a flush and re did the coolent and it now runs fine(my fan now kicks in and I can hear it when i park, for the first time)

mm, I think its time to how start modding;)
