Hi everyone,

I'm back... this time not driving my girlfriends old Sporting Seicento but my very own Seicento 2Tone (Looks do look a bit out of place, guessing thats why they only ran it for a year! lol.).

I was wondering what the difference is between the obvious Tachometer (rev counter) being removed, what are the specifics regarding suspension etc? Is the engine different? Not sure if its an 8valve or 16 valve.

I thought central locking came as standard on all sei's? If so, where could my problem with this lie? :).

And when it comes to oil, is it 5w30 thats required? How about coolant? When should the cambelt me changed? And what spark plugs should I stick in this baby.

I've gone through a few car forums in the past year so like to hang around on them quite a bit, lol. Hopefully someone can enlighten me on all thats required. I'm also not too sure if I can find the standard tyre pressures? Although I really need to find some Sporting Alloys to stick on here as the trims dont even match :D.

Hope everyones good and will appreciate any replies (y)

Hi everyone,

I'm back... this time not driving my girlfriends old Sporting Seicento but my very own Seicento 2Tone (Looks do look a bit out of place, guessing thats why they only ran it for a year! lol.).

I was wondering what the difference is between the obvious Tachometer (rev counter) being removed, what are the specifics regarding suspension etc? Is the engine different? Not sure if its an 8valve or 16 valve.

2Tone was only an 899 i think (isnt this the model with the bootlid a different colour?) whereas the sporting is a 1108 so yes the engine is different

Theres a few small cosmetic touches that are different as well as the obvious trim differences and equipment differences, you may notice the sporting has PAS and your 2Tone may not.

Suspension wise, the sporting is 20mm lower and has an ARB fitted whereas your 2tone will not.

They are neither 8v or 16v

I thought central locking came as standard on all sei's? If so, where could my problem with this lie? :).

Sportings came with it, unsure if your 2Tone does, its not like central locking where you have a seperate fob though, you might have to upgrade to that.

What problems you suffering?

And when it comes to oil, is it 5w30 thats required? How about coolant? When should the cambelt me changed?

5w 30 is too thin, use 10w or 15w 40 semi synthetic, cambelt doesnt need to be done ever as its chain driven

I'm also not too sure if I can find the standard tyre pressures? Although I really need to find some Sporting Alloys to stick on here as the trims dont even match :D.

13'' about 28-30PSI if motorway driving a lot maybe a bit more.

Alloys should get some off ebay, classifieds, scrappies fairly cheap

Hmm... well its definately a 1108 according the log book. :).

And balls, i've just bought 5w30 from halfords :( lol. the 10w40 was cheaper to!

"late seis were fitted with 1108cc MPI(multipoint injection) OHC engines and the 899cc phased out. this was circa 2000 when the sei had a facelift."

Its a 2002 model so i'm guessing its now using a 1108 MPI? What are the specifics for this engine? Any ideas on spark plugs?

Thanks for all the replies!

Presuming I could get a sporting tacho then there shouldn't be any problem fitting it on the dash and wiring it up then? Thats pretty awesome although not a necessity hehe.

My old mans going to have the 5w30 off me, the mileage is currently on 56K... and being as though i'm on the 1.1 is there a cambelt which needs changing?

Do you think I should go for 10w40 or the 15w40?

As for anti roll bars and the 20mm lowered suspension, will the anti roll bars fir to a standard seicento fairly easy? I have a couple of pairs of spring compressors so I'll have to get hold of some new springs! The rolled/flared arches tutorial is tempting but i'm sure mine won't look so good! lol.

Plan on keeping this car for a while now with the way insurance prices seem to be rocketing so gotta make it nice :).

Cheers for all your help.

Should just fit (but getting one that matches the colour of the speedo face may be a bit problematic). On some there is no blanking plate, so you have to cut the dash. It's said -- but I've no way of confirming it -- that some don't have the wiring, so snag the (very strange) connector when you grab the speedo.

10-40 is the prefered choice: a semi-synthetic will be fine.

The ARB is a fairly straightforward fit -- just make sure you get all the bolts and brackets. But -- my guess is that you already have it, if it's an 1108.

just read it off wikipedia r.e 8v/16v

As there isnt many 2tones about, or on forum i didnt know if it was an 899 i think i was thinking of the suite

In that case there is a cambelt and as its been 7 years at least, i would change it if the service history shows no cambelt change has occured

Apolgies for a long and pretty much usless post

Sorted out the oil and an air filter today, running much smoother! Is there any easy way to check the gearbox fluid? I think there may be a slight leak somewhere and the gears aren't super smooth... not sure if this is normal! haha.

Things are coming together slowly, cheers for all the posts guys much appreciated.

Easy ay is only way!. There's a 12mm allen type socket on the front face of the gearbox housing. Stand the car on level ground, undo bolt, put ne fluid in till it dribbles out, job done.

Do check the condition of the inner driveshaft boots. On some 1108 Seis, theill s.se are wet and act as oil seals for the gearbox oil. If they leak, the gearbox will fail shortly afterwards.

But poor gearchange can just indicate that the clutch cable needs adjusting.

Hi Xjairuxs ive got a seicento 2tone and mines a 1108 year 02 limited edition my inner drive shaft leaked for a while until i renwed the drive shaft very cheap if its any help

Thanks billdial, I think us 2tone owners are a rare breed lol. I think what I can see looks like its somewhere on the bellhousing. Will definately check the driveshafts now though. :).

Ok xjairusx u maybe right about the 2 tone bit tho lol it could possibly be the inner seal the back of bell housing it was with me so rather than do just the rubber boot ends i renewed the drive shaft too much easier job m8
