can anyone tell what is the best and easiest engine swap for the cinq but it must be turbo.i already have the p75 block 1108 head with 866 cam, freeflow filter, eprom changed in the ecu.
now im bored with it as its not quick enough so now its time to go turbo.i am a mechanic and have done all the bits myself already but i have never done anything with turbo always been n/a.
please can anyone help with advice or at least point me in the right direction by telling me what donor car to go and buy.
this is how my cinq looks at the moment in the attached pics, would value any opinions on it and what could be done to improve it.(y)

Check the FA/Guides, there is a parts list on there.

Check the "turbo'ing Burple" thread aswell. There is more than enough info on there and even several grumbles ;).

Sorry rallycinq, I mentioned the B-word. Forgive me ;).

Thanks

Edit:

Sorry only just noticed that you haven't got the rocker mounted cam sensor on your P75.... HOW COME MINES GOT ONE!!!!! Was yours a complete swap or just the bottome end?

Thanks

how easy is it to drop a 1.2 16v into mine and then add the turbo to that if all the other engines are awkward in one way or another?
i certainly want a cinq thats going to handle the corners so uno turbo is out the window.what sort of power can i expect from putting a turbo on my 1242 8v?

The amount of power you can get from a turbo engine is propotional to the longevity.

If you go hi boost, you'll need an intercooler.

The more advanced the management system you choose and the better the quality of set up the better chance the engine has of surviving highpower outputs.

The higher the power the more abrupt the delivery, soo you need to consider what traction aids you are going to fit.

In reality you will needto spend several thousand pounds to get a reliable powerful cento.

That, also the rods on the 1242s are probably not up to much more than 140bhp. The Abarth 500 engines (different rods, pistons, crank (?) .etc. -- turboed as stock) are probably safe to 200 bhp, but are so rare that it's a sellers market -- they tend to go for £1500 up. You can probably get 140 bhp from an 1108 tub set up properly (there's one out there that hit 132bhp on the dyno) but it'll cost you.

I love the tubs, they are real little animals, stunningly fast cars, but common sense suggests that a n/a 1.4 16v transplant (see foxyemz, Arc, kripit's posts) or buying an MR2 turbo or an MX2 and supercharging are more financially viable.

RALLYCINQ has a ready built tub engine 1242 so im going to ring him later and 99.9% sure ill buy that off him as he is only 38miles from me:D
should go like stink,i have seen on my sat nav speed 124mph with what i have in there now and speedo needle was past the 120 mark but dont know how exact these sat navs are but it felt seriously quick and i was passing everything.i would love to have a cinq that was capable of 150 and still have the acceleration to go with it:eek:

Not without much bigger tyres!

140 might just be on with 15", but consider that the Mini Cooper S Works (with 200bhp and torque to match) won't make 145. Aerodynamics demand big power increases to get that kind of speed. 700bhp should get you 200mph in a MR2, but the car would be a complete PITA in normal use.

The best 1108 turbo (by a long way) has been GPSed at 132. I've been promised a drive in one of the better 1242s, (said to be quicker by the former owner of the 1108) but won't be attempting any speed records...........

who wants top end. you just need a car that goes from 0 to X quick.

my turbo cinq even with the boost controller off (0.3bar...low boost) will do 60-100 shockingly quick... quick enough to make bmw drivers pull out of "there" lane :p

never really been over 100... in fact i hardly ever go much over 80. its not fun in a car with a short wheel base. and its not worth my license.

But ive had 110 out of mine... still pulling. but id only get about another 5-10mph before i hit the limiter as i have a punto6speed box.

i have a slight addiction to speed:devil: which i get from my parents who were both extremely fast drivers but the acceleration is also good but 135 would be good enough.

You would never see it IMO

Not that it isnt possible to do, i just dont think you would see it on our roads, too much traffic and not enough long straights.

I dont think you would see it on the track as again we dont have the straights on them to acheive it. Even a 1/4 mile strip you would never reach those figures in this type of car

The only feasible place would be an airstrip or runway of some kind and that would be a waste as i dont think you own your own airstrip or runway so you would have to hire and that would be occasional if at all

I am in complete agreement of trying to get to 30-70 and 60-100 in the quickest time, i think efforts should be concentrated here more than a huge top end speed

Its alright saying 'my car can do x mph' however proving it is a different matter

i regularly sit at between 95 and 105 when i do motorway runs every week so acceleration upto there would be good.can you post videos on here or is it just pics?if so ill upload my vids of cinq.:yum:
