Technical mpi swap

Ive been told with spi the 1108 is only good for about 80bhp then theres a fuel problem, i was just wanting to know if this is the same for the mpi set up, or can the mpi be remapped for better gains

It's not just about fuel/mapping. A N/A 1108 producing anything above 85bhp will be a pretty camy beast, not necessarily a lot of fun as a road car. And the process is likely to be expensive. (Cam, porting, re-map, manifold, vernier pulley and so on.)

1242 16v engines can be bought for sensible money and are probably an easier way to go unless you want to go 1.4 or tub. Get the gearbox while you're at it.

Kripit's thread is a good read -- I think there may be a guide on ClubCento somewhere, too.

Cheers fingers is the 1242 16v a easy swap as im not that good with engines (worked all my life in the forces firing big guns) so what sort of money would i be looking at for some one to do the swap

Don't pay for the swap -- you're looking at a day and a half of relatively unskilled labour at £40 -£50 an hour.

You need the engine (preferably with all ancilliaries), box, ECU, code box/transponder (keys would be good). I'd be inclined to get the exhaust if you can, too. A wanted ad in the Punto section should turn one up.

See Kripit's thread -- his 1.4 started its new life as a 1.2 -- or, I think, there's a guide on ClubCento.

The MPi set up was added to the Sei to improve emissions performance, not outright performance, hence my earlier questions.

Getting lots of power from 1108 is expensive, trust me.

Pop a 16V in, either 1.2 or 1.4. Much more sensible (read less expensive)

Cheers
