A few days ago, after extremely heavy rain i found my passenger footwell was about 2 inches deep in water!!!

i suspected the sunroof drainage pipe, so i lifted the carpet, removed the sunroof and got someone to pour water down the sunroof drainage holes as i looked under the carpet. Sure enough when water was poured down the front passenger side drainage hole water flooded into the car, through a hole in the chassis.

I looked under the car and located the drainage holes, there are 3 of them, the seam that runs along the car sills has 3 bulges in it along the length under the door, these bulges have a hole in them and these are the drainage holes, i cleared the front one out with a screwdriver, poured more water down, and hey presto, its all sorted now!!

I thought i would just post this message in case anyone else has the same problem, just need a new radiator and passenger door lock (damn theives [V]) and my seicento will be perfect again!

Hi Jonathan

The local clever mafia have been at my car, so my passenger lock's been totally smashed to bits, including the mechanism.

What are you planning to do with yours, get a separate lock from the scrappy or get a proper lock from fiat (btw how much do these cost?) cos it's summer and that's the time for fixing things!:)

I can see the top of my car in the car park...

Re locks

Our Sei has broken into last week and the drivers door lock damaged.[V]

The local friendly FIAT dealer gave me the following options:

1) Just replace the drivers lock and make do with a different key - £72 including fitting.
2) Replace all locks, incl ignition, petrol cap etc - £185. The lock kit (if you want to fit yourself) is £65.

Note, this is for a phase two Sei (2001 onwards - no red key),

However, the body shop that is repairing some minor damage to door said they were able somehow to combine the mechanism from the old look with a new look so that I can still use my original key (price £50). Understandably this is the option I went for.

The delinquents also nicked my parcel shelf with newly fitted 6*9s. Next stop an alarm I think!

My wife's Siecento has stunk like a sewerage farm since we got it.
I spent more than 10 hours with a steam cleaner on the carpet, and it was filthy, but the stink remained.
Ordered a new carpet, and after more than a month and nearly £150, I have the carpet.

Took the old one out, only to find that the soundproofing under the carpet is soaking wet and stinking.

The car does not have a sun roof, ih has had a new windscreen fitted, but I would have thoughts that if it was coming in through the windscreen, it would have dripped down onto the carpet from the top, but the carpet was totally dry, but I don't know if it could just run down the firewall and behind the carpet, or maybe into the same blocked drainage holes mentioned for the sun roof.

Any idea while we are cleaning out the inside before I lie in it?

Thanks.

After my last post, I've taken off the insulation on the firewall, the felt with what looks like a layer of rubber on it, this was dry from about four inches above floor level, and had no discolouration as if it had been wet, so it looks like the water is coming from the bottom????

Maybe spray a pressure cleaner behind the fron wheels??? or anyone had this before?

Thanks, just sprayed a lot of water around the battery, and corresponding position on passenger side, and nothing gettin in.

Sprayed plenty of water all over the front of the car, down the grill in front of the windscreen, round the doors, at the bottom along the bottom of the firewall and footwells, and nothing getting in.

Checked the drains in the "chassis" along the sills, and clear.

I'm starting to think that it must have filled with water when the screen was broken, and never dried properly, the water being trapped betwwn the floor and the PVC backing to the carpet.

Have been cleaning with a strong bleach solution to try and get rid of the smell, which is going now, but I think I will put the seats etc back in without the carpet and underlay and let it air for a week or so, also give us chance to make sure no water is coming in anywhere.
