Hey, as most of you know i was interested in the seicento turbo that was up for sale recently...

It seems to have had a hard life after leaving the owner who originally built the car, and nobody has looked after it since... It seems to have gone from owner to owner, and been on ebay and piston heads time after time.
It has always caught my eye but ive been put off before at the price tag, and the fact an owner never seems to have it for very long...

I decided as it was localish from me i would go and have a look...

From what i heard about the car it was a nail, and to be fair upon looking at her she needs a fair amount of work... The body work is cr*p and the engine has an issue starting from cold... but when its running its sweet as a nut, and boosts brilliantly...

After dropping the price down from 1500 to 1250 i was handed the keys... Quick call to the insurance later and i was on the way home...

Ive done around 120 miles in the car so far and shes great, just rough around the edges looks wise...

Ive spent a lot of time and effort on my 2.0 16v car, and i am going to be putting the same amount of effort into this one... mainly because im fed up of seeing it for sale and to be honest i really like the damn thing!

Big respect to the guy who originally owned/built the car.. im planning on getting it back to the condition of when he had it, as its a shame the amount of money thats been plowed into the car over the years.

So far on the to do list...

Yellow Bonnet!!!
Sort out the failing to start problem, im going to order a CTS sensor and possibly look at the cold start valve (need to locate the damn thing).
Upgrade the cable run from the boot battery to the front as a VOLT drop on starting may be causing issues.
Replace the sunroof and two front wings.

Then once the engine is running off the key i will be looking to remove the engine and do a major service including cambelt etc and refitting the engine with more solid mounts (strengthened standards)...

Also the gears need adjusting as 2nd is hard to get accasionally due to the stick hitting the metalwork in the car...

Either way, i know a lot of people have negative views on the car, but i will be putting a lot of time and effort into it to get it up to show/stand condition again.

If anyones interested in the interior, then its up for sale. This is mainly to invest the money back into the car as cash flow is extremly tight at the moment.

Il put an advert up in classifieds when i get chance anyhow.

well done for purchasing it mate (y) and i am glad you have bought another fiat seicento and still part of the fiat family. With your skills i know you will have it looking good or better than what it was originally.

keep us updated

I remember posting uno help for this car when it was in Huddersfield. The supplementary air valve was missing then.

Here we go https://www.fiatforum.com/uno/137966-help-uno-turbo-1-4-problems.html

Did it ever get fixed?

Ah just read your link, and it seems as if its having the same problem as it used to have.

Looks as if the supplementary valve bit isnt on the car yet, as there is a socket stuck in a vacuum pipe lol.

Did you change the MAF on her then? as it looks as if the problem was solved at the end of the post.

As for over fueling i was told the car was... removing the fuel cap there is a stupid amount of pressure in there, so ive now fitted a vented cap to see if this aids the problem.... As im thinking the tank pressure is making the pump push too much fuel into the engine and possibly past the injectors.

Well you can go wrong with that price can you :D(y)

Good luck it will be nice to see the car turned into the monster it should have been years ago before it was thrashed by chavs :D

Keep us updated

Karl spent £18k on it originally IIRC.

What are you going to do interior wise? That leather interior is one of the best things about that Sei IMO.

... and the worse handling...:eek::p

Wonder if the slag will keep its owner this time???

The seicento turbs handles really well, so i can only assume that the suspension has been uprated recently. Havent really looked over it yet... The only thing is its really light as it still has power steering!

As for the interior im in two minds what to do with it. If my seicento 2.0 sells then i could be persuaded to keep it all, but not 100% sure just yet. Getting the engine running is the priority at the moment, so that will need some funding.

Oh and yes it is the one with the tubing... Il be keeping most of it, but getting another bonnet as the vent and gash hole looks pants.

Also needs an exhaust building up as its blowing from about 20 different places lol...

Can't remember the outcome of the thread.

Don't know whet MAF is. you mean the AFM (Air flow meter)? wasn't me as I've never seen this car in the flesh. I seem to recall the supplementary air valve wasn't changed and you seem to have a socket blocking where is should go (other post in Uno section).

I think excess tank pressure may stop the leakoff valve's return to tank working if over 3 bar (of higher if you have a powerboost valve). There is a vent on the UT's tank bit not sure what pressure it operates.

As for runing rich, it's probs been fooked about with alot. there is a mixture adjustment screw on the AFM, and an idol screw at the end of the throttle cable. there is also another screw to set the butterfly on the plenum chamber but that shouldn't be touched.

Get a supplementary air valve fitst off, before you touch any fuelling (y).

Oh dose the fule pump buzz before for 3 secs upon the first click of the key? the anti percolation fan is also missing, but that's a common mod on the Uno. Perhaps engine bay temps are hih enough to benefit from this fan in the sei bay.

I have a couple of spare sup. valves and pipe work and now my MK1 is running, I'm in a position to test them (y). (when I put the tank back again lol).

Havent tested the fuel pump, il strip the rear seat out so i can have a listen tomorrow.
If you have a working sup valve and pipework could you give me a shout and il sort some monies via paypal. (apparently a german car has the same valve on.. not sure if this is true or not).. Also looking online i am under the impression that the valve fits between the pipe i currently have the socket stuck in, and somewhere on the boost pipework... Is this normally junctioned in before the intercooler? Not even sure there is wiring present for the valve, il have a look tomorrow.. If not do you have any idea on an ECU pin number reference or how it is wired in... All i know from research is its a bi-metallic strip which heats up to open/close the valve, so i can only assume its ECU controlled :S

I am popping into fiat tomorrow to get a new coolant temp switch to see if that helps with it...

Yea MAF Mass air flow meter, or AFM airflow meter...

Where would the anti percolation fan usually be fitted? Is that supposed to be connected to the hole in the inlet/rail...

sent PM regarding power cable.

Ditch the MAF, and the ECU. Squirt it instead and get it mapped :D

Good buy for sure! I should have gone had a look at it :D

//edit. if lumpy when cold, get it compresion or leakdown tested (i have both if you need to borrow, no compressor though). Also proably needs a damn good service.

Think the compression is fine as it drive's brilliantly round when its warmed after two or 3 mins.

As for the squirt, has it been done on an uno turbs mk2 before?

not as far as i know, but it should be pretty easy to setup :D

Only thing i'd recommend is an EBC rather than rely on th eMS boots controller, as thats a bit tempremental (check how craigb does it though, as he runs MS on his 765 engine)

Cheers,

Kristian

You really are a glutton for punishment, TBO honest i doubt the handling would be any worse than than your red top, the UT engines are good for some mega outputs too so it is not a step backwards.

As you've gone into this knowing it has not been particulary loved for a while and will need work you won't be suprised when it goes wrong, however it is not really a sensible reliable family hack! All the back seasts do in this case is add weight when you need to push it:p

The 1.2 low blow would have been a more sensible bet

Good luck with it's resurrection i will watch with interest and don't sell the interior it is the best bit of the car and being leather it is easier to wipe the baby vomit off than fabric
