My manual Seicento 899 has recently developed a fault where the car has been increasingly hard to get into gear. Reverse and 1st are the worst and when changing gears the higher the revs the harder it becomes.

Last night it became much worse and wont go into first at all and is extremely difficult in the other gears.

Does anyone have any ideas? The clutch seemed fine before with no judder or slip. Would it be anything to do with low clutch fluid/gearbox oil?

Many Thanks:)

Mmmm...... was hoping that wouldn't be the case. I've read in another thread that the clutch cable can stretch so the clutch doesn't fully disengage properly.

Any thoughts on that?

Thanks

Yes adjust the clutch, but it is likely to be on way out, you are receiving the warnings... via the gear stick.

The box is probably ok but check the oil level in the box before driving anywhere. Inspect the inner drive shaft gaiters for any oil residue. Drive way ditto.

Thanks i'll try that.

I'll start saving for the new clutch when I'll need it!

Thanks again
