General 2001 sporting and sporting arbath whats the difference

the mpi abarth has the same side skirts, spoiler and alloys as the spi one, also has 3mm spacers on the front and i think they have bolts not not nuts on the wheels, they also have abarth badges on the headrests. they also have cool pedals. and it says abarth in the center grill on the front bumper

the shui is the same as the abarth BUT it doesn't have the badges ont the headrests and it has a cool center consoul bit around the gearstick and a metal handbrake cover.

hope thats cleared things up. :)

abarths do not have the aluminium pedal covers as standard, only schumis, if youve seen an abarth with these on they have excercised an option at factory or have been fitted aftermarket

Thats the kind of thing I was driving at.

Abarth bits being added to a standard Sporting does not an Abarth make.

Its not like the new Cento, where the car is actually sold as an Abarth, not a Fiat.

Cheers

SPI think its 10mm spacers on the front... hubcentrics.. plus i once read that there is a very slight difference in the gearbox to adjust the speedo difference as the wheels are 14" (not the normal 13")

Iv had a few abarths and non of them came with the abarth and the front bumper (unless this applys to MPI)

One other main differance on MPi Abarth's and Schumi's which show they were stand alone models rather than have the option list ticked is they have a shorter final drive on the gearbox to make up for having the bigger wheels so acceleration remains the same.

Spi models with Abarth extras didn't have the shorter drive gearbox.

This gearbox translates to roughly running 500pm higher at 80mph in 5th gear than running a normal box and the same wheel configuration.

MPi models also get red stiching on the steering wheel, not sure about Spi models think its just standard black like all other Sei models.

As correctly pointed out the alloy pedal covers, handbrake handle and gearstick surround were standard on Schumi models but optional on ALL models. Our Mpi Sei Abarth has the handbrake handle and gearstick surround, though we use Panda 100HP optional pedal covers.

There was a fair few other optional extras like carbon look dash panel which again I think Schumi models got as standard, sill covers, headlamp pretectors, and a very nice three spoke air-bag steering wheel IIRC.
