Suspension strut? Boot strut?

If suspension strut i would get a new one rather than a second hand one, possible safety issue having one new one and one worn one? Id do both sides at same time as well

Hi

At least you did not write off the whole front of the car, like some people...

The struts may be different for the sporting, and I dont think they are gas.

Try searching on site for 'fluffy the impaler' he runs a mail order shop, cheap, but they still may be expensive, only doing one side may be bad, especially if your dad is doing the fitting.

He can't be that old, struts have been around since the 50s.

You can get 'gas' ones if you want. They are not actually gas at all, they still use oil, the gas replaces the air in standard ones so that it doesn't mix with the oil when hot.

Silly question, how do you know a strut is gone during an emergency stop?

The strut only comes into play after the stop.

it's been on the way out for a while and it's really not nice to drive atm cos the passenger side bonces a hell of a lot and the driver side hardly moves at all, my dad is more use to plant machinary like cranes trains and dock spotters lol

He'll manage a strut no problem.

I am sure you'll give him a hand anyway.

Get a pair, they are not expensive.

i will be forced to help cos it's my car lmao i don't mind though as long as it's sorted. also my steering has gone heavy and the passenger wheel and i'm scared it drops off but the problem is it doesn't have 2 wheels and a 2 stroke engine lol but he is trying lol x

Sporting struts for a Sporting. There are"better than original" OE replacement struts from KYB, Bilstein, Monroe which will probably be cheaper than the originals. Get a pair. Check your local factor, also check the condition of the suspension top mount.

Use the guide (under your signature -- it's by far the quickest way).
